Astrakhan transmigration

DeAnna Maganias, Grandmother’s soul, 2025, Astrakhan pelts, mixed media, 106x130x95 cm

making things is a collaboration with objects

you make something and it becomes itself

you start a conversation with that new self

you give it a name and change its name

then the name has a self and with the new name it becomes a new self and the conversation continues

and becomes confused

and becomes clearer with all its shifting beauty, ugliness, difficulty

with all the associations it carries, it becomes something bigger

and you look at it
