Traditionally, the use of paper refers to the sketch, the draft, something rough or hurried, and something black and white. However, paper is not a preliminary or crude medium. Instead, it can depict works that are self-sufficient and even rich in colour.  Art is something that does not fall within “in” or “out” of boundaries. However, the “boundaries” in creation largely determine the form of the work.  An artist’s creation involves the their decision of what to include within the frame and what to leave out. Thus, works on paper “frame or unframe” the subject depending on how we see/interpret them. The frame is the intermediary between the artwork and the viewer – the artist and the world.

We therefore invite visitors to place themselves “inside – outside” their own boundaries.
